REV LUCY – for Seaford Parish Magazine – February 2021.
Who am I? As many of you know I am married to James the vicar and we moved to Seaford in August as James was appointed Vicar of St Leonards and St Luke’s.
I am also a Wills and Probate solicitor for Mayo Wynne Baxter and although currently working from home, once we are beyond the current restrictions, I will be based in their Seaford office.
I am also mum to three fabulous adult children, Ruth, Abi and Sam, who some of you will have met or spotted in our online services.
I am also a Church of England priest and I am very excited that on Sunday 14 February I am hoping to be licenced to a role in Seaford and the Lewes deanery by Bishop Will. We are not sure exactly what this role will look like at the moment, particularly given the current lockdown, but it will include
ministry and leading and preaching both in Seaford and in the wider deanery as the need arises.
I was ordained as a priest in the Church of England in June 2017. I studied for six years with the South East Institute of Theological Education (now called St Augustine’s) for my 2:1 Theology and Ministry degree awarded by Durham University. I am a self-supporting (SSM) priest, which for me
means I have another paid job and the time I spend in my priestly role is part time and all voluntary.
I served one year of my curacy at St Mary’s Ringmer and then moved to St Augustine’s Scaynes Hill to complete my curacy and was SSM Associate Vicar there during their interregnum before we moved to Seaford.
I also love doing arty stuff, my garden, walking by the sea, genealogies and history as well as helping people to get to know Jesus better through prayer and teaching and spending time together.
I am also looking forward to getting to know you over the next few years!
