Flower Festival 2021
The Flower Festival arrangements are in hand and progressing well.
This time we are also advertising our event as part of the Lewes Artwave which is an annual festival of artists and makers from Lewes, Seaford, Newhaven and the surrounding villages and runs from the 11th to 26th September.
So instead of holding an ‘Open House’ at Hill Rise to showcase Anthony Morgan-Jones’s paintings and cards they will be displayed, together with a contribution from the hand of Nina Buckland in St Leonard’s Church. The idea will be as before, that any sales will be for parish funds. Of necessity this will be a small exhibition, casually displayed as it has to be able to be put up and taken down easily to accommodate existing services and bookings and apart from weekends will just be open during the regular hours of 10.00am-1.00 pm.
Our main focus is the Flower Festival from Friday 24th to Monday 27th September entitled ‘Window on our World’. Arrangers are pleased to be back to provide displays based on different countries and some of our parish mission partners serving overseas. Musicians and others are looking forward to providing musical interludes each day.
There will be a Flower Festival Choral Evensong (with augmented choir) on Sunday 26th September at 6.00pm. Music will include Song of Mary and Song of Simeon by Richard Shephard and the anthem Loo at the World by John Rutter.
